I had never taken supplements seriously. In fact, only last year, it was a complete chore for me to even take my multivitamins every morning. #1 Apple Cider Vinegar

After wasting my days away watching Victoria’s Secret model “what I eat in a day” videos, seeing them down their rancid apple cider vinegar drinks in the morning became a reoccurring event. If you’ve smelt that stuff, you’ll know that it’s extremely potent but nevertheless, I thought I’d give it a go! (If the Victoria’s Secret models are drinking it, it must work right?)
Although, there was no way I was going to be drinking that poison, so I had to find another way to consume it. That’s when I discovered these apple cider vinegar capsules!

But how does it help you lose weight? Well, apple cider vinegar is proven to increase the feeling of fullness, so taken alongside a meal would lead to you eating less- It’s pretty simple!
These capsules also contain turmeric, cayenne and ginger which work wonders for your immune system and help to boost your energy levels and metabolism.

I can’t find the link to the exact ones I bought earlier this year but this one is pretty much exactly the same as what I take daily- they work like a treat! They were the first supplement I would take at the beginning of my fitness journey and always leave me feeling energised and ready for the day!

#2 Pre-workout

Pre-workout is probably one of the best supplements a fitness fanatic like me could take. It’s like a special potion that allows me to get the most out of my workouts! As a mother to a toddler, my daughter just sucks out all of my energy! And so for some days, especially the days when I workout in the morning, coffee just isn’t enough!

The main ingredient in pre-workout is caffeine but does more way than any traditional cup of coffee could due to it’s high amount.
Pre-workout also contains creatine which is an amazing performance booster. Creatine allows our bodies to produce energy much faster than normal which is why it is perfect for a workout.
On days I take pre-workout, I’m able to do more reps, more sets and increase the overall length of my workout..
So by enabling me to workout harder and for longer, I am able to burn more calories hence, weight loss! It’s as simple as that!
C’mon you didn’t actually think there would be no real work involved did ya?

The pre-workout I use is Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard Pre Workout Powder– watermelon and fruit punch are my favourite flavours!

All of this being said, I would suggest you approach this supplement with caution. It can be very easy to become reliant on pre-workout and it can be very easy for your important rest to become effected. I still use it, but I recommend you take breaks in-between as consecutive use can do more damage than good if you’re not careful!

#3 Protein Powder

Once I discovered protein powder, I instantly knew that it really was one of the best supplements for weight loss and muscle growth from my results alone.

Im sure we all know about protein powder or whey protein. We often associate it with weight lifters or extremely chiseled gym nuts but it actually can help us lose weight as well as build muscle.

Muscle actually has a higher metabolic rate than fat meaning that the more muscle you build in place of fat, the higher your metabolism increases.
Or in simpler words, you’re just able to burn fat much FASTER!

The protein powder I’m using at the moment is PhD Nutrition’s Diet Whey Protein Powder (birthday cake flavour) and it is soooo versatile. I have used this protein powder to make shakes, pancakes and even mug cakes-it’s delicious! Be sure to check out some protein powder recipes to get some extra protein in your everyday diet!

#4 Collagen

For the past 2-3 months, I have been taking collagen supplements nearly every single day. My use of collagen was actually very impulsive but now I can’t imagine a life without it. It is amazing for strengthening and growing your nails, hair and providing a beautiful glow to your skin.

But did you know that collagen can also help us lose weight!? Yes that’s right, in fact – collagen can boost your metabolism in the same way as protein powder. When combined with exercise, it can stimulate muscle growth which may lead to a faster metabolism.

I use these Powerful Marine Collagen Tablets and with the amount of improvements I have noticed with my hair and skin, I am definitely trusting the process when it comes to weight loss!

#5 Super Greens

Being healthy is all well and good but I just can’t, for the life of me, eat 5 a day every day! As much as I try, I always end up falling short so after some searching, I found super greens!

Super greens are packed with minerals, vitamins and proteins that help to boost the immune system, detoxify the body and make digestion a whole lot easier! With all of these elements combined, it makes losing weight much more trouble free!

I use this Amazing Grass Green Superfood and it contains a whole 2 servings of fruit and vegetables in every scoop! As the taste is pretty strong, I usually mix it in with my protein powder for a healthy shake after my workout!

These are the best supplements I have found that have helped me lose weight over the past year. Do you use any supplements? What are your favourites? Let me know in the comments below!
