Follow My Health And Fitness Journey: September 2021

Rice Krispies treats before a workout? Gymwear addiction? Aaah, what’s new!? It’s been a little while since I’ve gotten close and personal on this blog, so I think it’s about time I gave y’all a little health and fitness update!

The last few months have been a shambles; honestly and truly! But I am definitely in a place where I feel comfortable and safe within myself… does that make sense? After struggling with my body image and eating habits for a long while, I have finally reached the final stage and I couldn’t be any more content!

So what’s been going on with me?

I Weighed The Lowest I have Ever Weighed In My Adult Life

Mental health matters so so much! I went through a period of time where I was dealing with an overwhelming level of anxiety and my appetite and health suffered for it! I don’t usually weigh myself but when I chose to finally take the plunge, I was shocked by the numbers that had met my eyes. Had I really let myself go that bad!?

I have spoken in the past about combatting binge eating and it was very strange to me that I did the complete opposite. I no longer had the desire to even eat half of what I would usually, in fact- eating became a chore! So much so that |I then weighed the lowest I have EVER weighed in my adult life!

Dance Is My Favourite Form Of Exercise

If you follow me on my socials, I’m sure you’ve seen that I have gotten back into dance! Honestly, I couldn’t be happier because I’d always dreamt about this day. I used to dance when I was younger and I have been missing it tremendously; so I took it upon myself to start attending classes at BASE! I’m addicted at this point and I feel so empty when I’m not there!

I have so much I can’t wait to learn but watching my dance progress is such an exciting thing. Can you believe I was flopping around the studio only a few months ago, two left feet and not really knowing what I was doing. Let’s see where this journey takes me eh!

I Tried A Calorie Surplus

I’m not gonna beat around the bush here when saying; who on EARTH does not want a good looking peach!? Especially after losing so much weight, I made the decision to start eating in a surplus and start giving them glutes some serious fuel to grow!!!

I cannot lie, there had been some hard days because I’m not used to consistently eating large amounts over a longer period of time. Buuuuut protein bars, mug cakes and salmon have been my best friend these last few weeks!

I Am Now intuitively Eating

Alongside eating in a calories surplus, I’m no longer strictly tracking my calories. I am at a stage where I know how much I need to eat to maintain or go over that- well, I have a general idea at least- and I’m eating whatever I want, whenever I want.
I have to say, the previous years of frequent exercise and taking care of my health has done wonderful things for my metabolism and I’m not piling it back on in the same way I used to. I can’t lie in saying it has been slow, but I think I’m finally steady on this road.

I am also eating protein like a madman these days because you can never get enough gains, amirite!?

I Am Back At The Gym

I have finally decided to bite the bullet and rejoin the gym! I knew I needed to partake in strength training to achieve the results I wanted, but I wasn’t sure if I could justify the monthly price with the uncertainty of how often I’d actually be able to attend. Now, I haven’t completely ditched home workouts but I am going to be honest in saying I was seriously losing the motivation to do them all the time.


Now Maya is at nursery 3 times a week and sleeping throughout the entire night in her own bed (FINALLY), I have several chances to actually get up and get my fitness on in a proper gym setting. Since writing this, I have gone twice- and preparing to get another gym sesh in this afternoon-and believe it or not, I really missed the pain my body is feeling right now!

Obviously with me being me, I have gotten carried away with adding tons of cute workout sets to my basket- but if the gym’s gonna see me, I’ve gotta be looking my best right!? Aaah, I missed this!

And did I forget to mention how goooood Rice Krispies treat are!? I’d been seeing all over TikTok that they make the best preworkout snack and I couldn’t agree more. I’m sure everyone knows I have the biggest sweet tooth so this; now this right here, makes me very very happy! Something about that carbs and sugar combo that makes me feel invincible! Try it!

So that’s all from this lil health and fitness update! so tell me, what are your health and fitness goals? As I’m eating in a calorie surplus, I intend to maintain this in the until the end of the year in the healthiest way possible and build plenty of muscle(in all of the right places *wink wink*).
